Things I Love Thursday: The New Table
We sold our beloved kitchen table at the garage sale.
This was our "kitchen table" for a week and a half.
Yes, that's how long it took me to decide what color to stain the new table!
We also enjoyed lots of meals outside.
Ended up putting the screen tent up for shade at lunch.
Yes, those hillbillies on Bethel Rd.... that's us.
Finally on Monday night our neighbor Justin came over and helped Eric move it in!!!!
Enjoying a Coke on the finished product!
Dark stained top. Two coats of poly. I sanded before and after each coat.
Feels so smooth!
I painted the legs white and distressed them with the orbital sander.
I should have stained the edges first, then painted, then sanded so that the wood showing through would be a nice dark color.
Oh, well. Live and learn. I don't care enough to do it all a second time!
Just need to get some real chairs. But for now folding chairs and a table full of kids will do.
We LOVE our new big table. Seats 14 with the extension!
Next project: painting the kitchen!

These 5 Kids
There are no 5 kids
that I would rather spend the day with.
Today we stopped by Wendy's after speech therapy and "the Thomas Store"
to use our free Frosty coupons from Uncle Tim.
Yes, even though it was freezing outside.
My heart was so full
just hanging out with these 5 kids.
There's nothing I'd rather be doing with my life.
Liam taught them how to "cheers" as he says!!
Who knew you could have this much fun for free at Wendy's?
It really is a Wonderful Life.

Yes, I let them keep reading.

Things I Love Thursday
Taking my kids to the grocery store.
Yes.
Seriously.
I am not being sarcastic.
Today we had a really really fun time together.
Even though it started with me cathing Owen in the car and proceeding to spill urine all over the car seat.
Pop quiz: what's the most absorbent thing I might have on hand to quickly grab in such a situation?
Answer: a disposable diaper.
problem solved.
As I am leading all 5 kids holding hands from the back of the parking lot to the door I felt like.... well, this picture:
Complete with stares.
You can almost see people counting as we walk by (even in the store).
For some reason all the kids were very interested in all the different fruits and vegetables today. (Meijer does have a wonderful selection, am I right.)
We were reading all the signs and learning their names and what they're good for. (I love that Meijer includes that.)
We bought a star fruit and a mango to have for a snack at home. Liam took a video of it on the ipad. I'll try to get it off of there to post it soon.
We got a cart full of groceries.
a winter coat for Liam.
and shoes for Zane and Evie.
of course a free sample cookie from the Bakery before getting in line to check out.
Evie had her first ride on Sandy the penny horse. (My baby girl will be 2 on Monday!)
Liam decided he was too old to ride. (sniff sniff)
Before you think my kids are perfect, I assure you they are not.
We've had more than our fair share of melt downs, chaos, lost children, etc.
Though Mark P. I promise the time you were with me has seriously been the only time one of my children has actually broken something.
can you say, "Clean up on aisle 6!"?
That being said, days like today can happen too.
And I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I don't want to forget.
I'll need to remember today the next time we're at the grocery and I'm tempted to pretend they belong to someone else.
wink wink.
Yes.

Things I Love Thursday — Annalise JOY!
SHE'S HERE!!!!!
My friend Kristin delivered Annalise Joy Koning at 10:08 this morning!
6 lbs 12 oz. 20 inches long.
She is absolutely beautiful!
My heart is full.
What a gift!
______
Annalise, your first cry through that thick door ripped me right open.
I didn't know how healing that beautiful sound would be.
Oh, how I've longed to meet you!
But would it really happen?!
I feel like I've been holding my breath for all these weeks.
And there you were.
Your second cry nearly brought me to my knees.
and then I saw you.
wiggling and screaming.
and I let out my breath.
You are really here!
14 months to the day after your sister Emilie Elise went so unexpectedly to be with Jesus.
almost 3 years since your sister Joanna Claire's wonderfully stubborn heart stopped beating.
and 5 1/2 years after your brother Noah Scott's miracle 1 hour and 45 minutes in your mommy and daddy's arms.
JOY does not even begin to express it.
____
My cup overflows for my friend today!!!!
Kristin explains her name here.

I'm in love!
with erasers!
And I am not referring to my precious eraser collection
though I do love it dearly.
I have discovered Magic Erasers.
And I'm in L-O-V-E.
The fingerprints on walls I thought I'd have to repaint—gone!
The multi-colored, markered, crayoned table top we eat on—one color!
The white doors and door frames covered in smudgy black marks—like new!
I can hardly stand it!
