Fly on the Wall Friday

I got home from a cleft lip and palate conference in Indy after supper last night.

Grandma Potter had babysat and taught homeschool.  She had left when Eric got home.

We spent time catching up with the kids in the living room.  Kids reading, kids running, cuddling, talking.  It was nice.

I pick up Evie and ask:  Did you have fun with Grandma today?

Evie:  Yes!

Me:  Did she play doll house with you?  (this was what Evie wants to do with everyone who comes over)

Evie:  Not egg-actly.

so cute!  never heard her say that phrase before.

Kate:  It's so cute when she copies things she hears us say, isn't it?

Fly on the Wall

Just had to write this down.

Owen:  Why do police carry guns?

Me: Because sometimes bad buys have guns and they have to stop them.

Owen:  I don't need a gun.  I'd use my feet!

[I am slightly amused because in our house Owen's feet are deadly weapons.  It seriously hurts like crazy when he steps on your foot.  Like more than you think it would.]

Me: Oh really?!

Owen, confidently: Yes.  My braces are really tough.

Kate:  You can say that again.

Evie Humor

Evie:  Knock knock

Owen:  Who's there?

Evie:  Why did the zebra eat breakfast?

Owen:  I don't know, why?

Evie:  Hands!

_____

Evie:  Knock knock.

Liam:  Who's there?

Evie:  Why do you call the spots on a pig?

Liam:  I don't know, what?

Evie:  Flashlights!

_____

Evie:  What do you cross on the road?

Owen:  What?

Evie:  A cup!

Fly on the Wall Friday

Eric and I hear the following coming from the living room.

Owen crying. Loudly.

Liam:  Geesh, Owen.  You sound like a non-greased wheel.

Evie comes running in to tell us something "berry important."

Evie, hand on hip:  Mom, Owen is hu-ting my e-ar.  (as she uses her knew habit of pointing with her middle finger to point in the general direction of the living room.)

_____

Kate:  Happy Valentimes Day, Mom!

Jen:  Happy VanlenTINE's Day to you too, Kate!

Kate:  I thought it was valenTIMES?

Jen: Nope, that's just the way you've said it since you were little.  Maybe it's time to start saying it the correct way.  You know... now that you're 8.

Kate:  But do I have to?  I like ValenTIMES... You know, because it's a 'loving TIME of year.'

______

Me: Kids, tonight the Browns are coming over tonight to babysit while Mommy and Daddy go out on a date.

Evie:  My Eden coming?!

Me:  Yep.

Zane:  Mr. Brown too?

Zane, raising his eyebrows at Liam:  You know what this means?  Nerf wars.

Later that night.  At supper.  The kids were whispering (although technically it seems impossible for Zane to whisper)  about the best way to ambush Mr. Brown when he arrived.  They ate in record time and set out gathering darts and finding the perfect "cover" for their attack.

Liam lays a loaded Nerf gun near the door.

Zane:  What are you doing?!!  He'll be able to grab that right away!

Kate: Yeah, bad idea, dude.

Liam, in his reminding / peacemaking voice:  We're talking a fair fight here, people.

Oh dear.

Dentis

Evie's first trip to the dentist went great.

Though, apparently my 18 month old nephew did equally amazing at his first visit last week.

I think he has a future in dentistry!

She went back by herself.

Let them clean and do fluoride and everything.

So proud.

so cute.

Lego Liam

the other day Liam made this handy carrying clip for his mini figure that attached to his glasses.

Where does he come up with this stuff?
