Grass Cut

The kids said it was time to cut ~~the grass~~ Aggy's hair.

Meet Aggy. My mom found this little guy when she was cleaning out her classroom for the big move. It is a piece of panty hose with some dirt and grass seed in it and googly eyes and a mouth put on it. The instructions said to dampen the "head" and keep the jar filled with water. And 7-10 days later we'd have this...

Pretty Cute!

But today the kids and I decided to give Aggy a hair cut...

Rather dapper, don't you think!?

We've been married for 12 years and dated for 6 before that. Yes, high school sweethearts. Who knew what joys would be in store! Are hands are full with our 5 kids, but so are our hearts. Facing cancer and having a child with special needs have shaped us but don't define us or our family. We're trying our best to steward this life story God has given us. Life isn't perfect. In the midst of all the beautiful chaos that is our life, it's the little everyday things like we record on this blog that we want to remember and cherish. It really is a wonderful life.

Potter v 1.0 - Liam Hudson

Liam is almost 10 years old and in the 4th grade. I'm not sure how that happened so fast! He loves Legos and still hopes to be a Lego Designer when he grows up. He is a voracious reader and does well at math when he can read his own writing! He enjoys learning at home and mostly loves that he can play Legos during work breaks! He loves wrestling with his brothers, the ipad, babies, Star Wars and making comics. Liam's latest interest has been origami. Some of his original creations are quite impressive. He is doing well with piano and wants to get into martial arts if we can swing it. He's taking after his dad with his dry sense of humor and love of puns. We are proud of the young man he's becoming.

Potter v 2.0 - Kate Diane

Kate is 8 and growing into a beautiful young girl—inside and out! Though she adores her brothers and sister, she is definitely our social butterfly. Kate LOVES to make new friends. It is her favorite part of almost any activity. Kate is enjoying being a 3rd grader and is thoroughly enjoying homeschool. She is s quick learner and a hard worker. We often find her snuggled up with a good book. Her neat-freak tendencies are becoming more defined as she prefers her room arranged "just so." Her tenacious personality never ceases to amaze us as she embraces life with gusto. She love singing in the church kids choir, is doing great with piano and is learning to play the pink guitar she got for Christmas, though she still says her best talent is running on four legs. Not a little girl any more, we love to see the ways she's blossoming.

Potter v 3.0 - Owen Mark

Owen is 7 years old. His new glasses make him look so grown up and a lot like his big brother. They also improved his reading significantly. Owen is a first grader now and the flexibility of homeschool has been perfect for us in working around his appointments and surgeries. He gets speech therapy every other week at the school and has made amazing progress! He loves playing with his Angry Bird toys, building elaborate vehicles and traps for his Lego mini figure "crooks," playing ipad and being silly with Evie. Owen loves Frosted Flakes, chicken nuggets and chocolate milk. He would eat ham and cheese every day if he could. When he and Zane are not butting heads, they are best of friends, but more often than not there's a squabble over something or other. He goes at one speed—fast, and continues to amaze us with the ways he defies odds.

Potter v 4.0 - Zane Noah

Zane is 5 years old and enjoys going to preschool 4 days a week. He is a talker and thinks he's older than he really is. Like his older brothers, Zane is really into Legos, Star Wars, and Angry Birds—with a more physical twist to all his play. His favorite thing to do is "battle", usually with his "Light Saver" or a Nerf gun. All boy he is always busy, but also anxious to cuddle his mommy whenever he has the chance. He takes 5 special animals to bed with him: his dogs Mikey, Pug, Brownie and Fluffy, and his beanie baby horse B-thalomew that he got from his teacher. Zane loves to push his siblings' buttons and seems to dish it out better than he can take it these days. He is full of fun, loves to play games and draw epic battles on the "big paper". We love the hilarious things he comes up with daily. You just never know what will come out of that mouth!

Potter v 5.0 - Evie Joy

Evie is 3 years old. Our baby is not such a baby any more. Her potty training victory marked the end of 10 years of diapers in the Potter house. She loves ponies, books, puzzles, doing whatever Kate does, helping in the kitchen and playing with friends. Evie is working on learning her letters and numbers, though they're rarely in the correct order just yet! She makes excellent spirals as she "writes" while I do school with the older kids. She can work the ipad like a pro, and keeps up with the big kids most of the time. We are eating up these toddler years with our youngest. Evie is so sweet and loves to make us laugh with her silly sayings. We love our baby girl.
